I went for a drive and decided to go car spotting. I was too lazy to edit the photos, so forgive their crappyness. That, and Flickr decided the album should be backwards.

R129:

I found this topless R129 SL500 outside a Carneys. It was pretty clean. It was on some...shall we say "period correct" wheels. I was not a fan of those.

NC Miata:

NCCCCCCCC! Don't worry, traffic was stopped.

Drift Kid S13:

This thing was just sad at this point. There was practically no clear coat, tons of stickers, bald tires and front end damage. It was in a nicer area too.

Sad, sad E28:

This car was in relatively good nick, but it was sad for another reason. No, it's not that it's a 528E.

It's because of the RIMMMMMZZZZZZZ. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS WOULD DO THAT!?!?

Oil burner W123:

This car was across from the E28. Bonus 300ZX on the left side!

It was sporting some earned patina......

....and it was for sale! Only $2500.

Unused E30:

Looked to be in pretty good condition under the layers of dirt. Manual too!

WAGOVAN!

I haven't seen one of these in FOREVER! It looks like it might be an earlier carb'd model too. It looked like it hadn't been moved in a couple of years, but was in really nice condition. I would love it as a resto project.

This was also in pretty good condition. The wood was a bit faded, but it was one of those cars that seemed like it could really tell some stories......

Pop-top Vanagon Westfalia (Syncro?)

This Vanagon looked awful tall to be a 2WD model. They also had a huge 70s RV just to the left.

Pair of Mercs:

All of these photos were taken in a pretty nice part of town. Even so, people here tend to keep their old Mercs forever. There are a couple good reasons for this:

1. The build quality was awesome.

2. They never ever die.

Scurvy 'Scursion:

What is it with rich people abandoning/never moving their cars? This was covered with probably 1/4" of dirt.

Very early 996:

This car caught my eye, but I'm not really sure why. I really love the design of this, though. It just has such an innocent look to it. There are no sharp edges or angles, it's just so soft and curvy and comforting all around. This particular example looked like it had been in a minor accident at some pint, hence the badly color-matched door and slightly off bumper.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a Boxster from the front. There's no denying that they look a crazy amount similar in the front.

This car had ripoff-special wheels. What happened was that the car was ordered as silver, but was also ordered with the wheels painted to the body color. Instant profit on Porsche's part! The car would look the same either way. Note the slightly different center caps.
